Keynote By: Ernesto Mejia
In My Parents’ American Dream, Ernesto Mejía breaks down what it means to chase success while honoring where you come from. He shares about growing up with immigrant parents, the real meaning of the American Dream, and how family, hard work, and education shape your future. Through real talk and powerful stories, he challenges you to reflect on your purpose, take pride in your roots, and build a life you’re proud of.
Breakout 1
10:20 am - 11:20 am
“Discovering your why: unlocking your inner motivation”
Facilitator: Ernesto Mejia
College can feel overwhelming without a clear sense of purpose. Together we will reflect on our own experiences, explore real-life stories, and identify the “why” that drives your goals. By talking about motivation, challenges, and the practical strategies that help turn big dreams into action. You’ll walk away with a clearer sense of direction and tools to stay focused through graduation and beyond.
Breakout 2
11:25 am - 12:25 pm
“Build Your Village, Share Your Voice: Leadership Through Story and Self-Advocacy”
Facilitator: Talisa Ramos-Watts
Leadership doesn’t mean doing it all alone; it means knowing who has your back and how to speak up for what you need. Discover the power of building a strong personal “village” of mentors, peers, and community while exploring how to identify support systems, advocate for yourself, and use personal stories for connection and leadership. We’ll explore how your voice and your lived experiences are your greatest leadership tools. This is leadership rooted in culture, community, and power—your power.
